Over 20 years ago, our founder and Managing Director made his first trip to Africa where he was inspired by the thatch and timber structures he saw dotting the horizon everywhere he went.
This first trip sparked yearly visits to South Africa where he built an important partnership with our thatch factory, where he would spend time sharing ideas, learning and developing new products.
Fast forward to today and together with the factory he has helped to implement training programmes for the staff members who craft our thatch tiles by hand.
He has just returned from his 2019 visit to South Africa with our Commercial Manager, David Davies.
They got stuck in and had a go at the whole process – from selecting the best of the Cape Reed to making and boxing up the thatch tiles, to loading up a shipping container of theming timber bound for the UK.
We are very proud of our special partnership with the factory, meaning we can offer the highest quality thatching to the UK market at very competitive prices.
